Recipes bind families together. We exchange and collect them; we remember with fondness our families’ favourite recipes, with horror the stories of mustard plasters. In this talk, Dr Lisa Smith looks at some examples of old recipe books to consider their usefulness in researching and understanding family histories. Dr Smith is editor of The Recipes Project blog and Lecturer at the University of Essex.
The Essex History Group meets at ERO for talks on varied historical subjects. There is no formal membership and all are welcome.
Talks start at 10.30am, with refreshments before and after. Our lecture theatre is accessible to people in wheelchairs and has an induction loop.
Bookings for this event will open on 1 October. To be notified by e-mail when bookings are live, please join our Essex History Group mailing list.
