The Essex Record Office will be closed to the public from Thursday 5th November 2020 until further notice.
Essex County Council confirms that the Essex Record Office will close to the public during the national lockdown which comes into effect on Thursday 5 November, in-line with government guidance.
We are sorry to confirm the suspension of all weddings and viewings at the Essex Record Office. We will be in touch with all our couples directly to discuss new arrangements.
This closure includes the Searchroom and physical building, however during this period of closure, you will still be able to access many remote services including ordering Birth Marriage and Death certificates.

We will be maintaining several services during this period of closure, though this will be under constant review. Many of these services can be accessed through our website.
