Event terms and conditions

Maximum bookings

Individuals can book up to a maximum of four tickets for any one Essex Record Office event. If you have a larger group you would like to bring in you may be interested in our group visit options.

Confirmation of event bookings

We will send you a confirmation of your booking by e-mail. Please check the details in this e-mail to make sure they are correct. You do not need to bring this with you to the event as we will have a list of attendees on the door. 

Cancellation of bookings

Cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee which is a percentage of the overall ticket price:

All booking cancellations incur a charge:

• 25% cancellation fee for more than 14 days’ notice before the booking date
• 50% cancellation fee for less than 14 days but more than 7 days’ notice before the booking date
• 75% cancellation fee for less than 7 days but more than 2 days’ notice before the booking date
• 100% cancellation fee for less than 2 working days before the booking date

As an alternative to claiming a refund you could use the value of your cancelled ticket as credit towards another ERO event.

If you paid by credit card a refund will be processed within 10 working days of cancellation, minus the appropriate cancellation fee as specified above.

Different refund terms may exist in external booking systems.

Smoking

ERO has a no smoking policy which does not permit smoking anywhere within the building.

Damage, loss or injury

Essex Record Office (ERO) will not accept any responsibility for injury to persons or loss/damage to property while on ERO property other than when injury or damage/loss can be attributed to negligence on the part of ERO staff, servants or agents.

Whilst every effort will be made to ensure the provision of the facilities detailed, the ERO cannot be held responsible for shortcomings or conditions which may affect the event and which are outside its control such as weather, acts of terrorism, fire, flood etc.
